Uttar Pradesh Noida NEET UG Examination Fraud Case

In May 2025, a massive cheating racket was exposed in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, during the NEET UG medical entrance exam. Orchestrated by agents Sanjay Singh and Meera Devi, the scheme involved exam center supervisor Vikas Sharma and technical expert Rohit Gupta, who compromised the confidential papers. The gang sold solved papers for up to ₹20 lakhs per candidate and deployed Bluetooth earpieces and impersonation tactics. A whistleblower, parent Arjun Patel, filed a complaint after witnessing suspicious activity, leading Noida Police to raid multiple centers. The Central Bureau of Investigation was subsequently brought in. The leak affected over 2,000 aspirants, triggering nationwide outrage over the integrity of India's premier medical entrance test.

All four main accused were arrested and charged under the Indian Penal Code and the newly invoked Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024. The Supreme Court of India canceled the results of the affected Noida centers, ordered a CBI-managed re-examination for those candidates, and the criminal trial remained pending as of late 2025.

The primary disputes were whether the leak was a systemic failure by the National Testing Agency, the extent of the organized criminal network’s penetration into exam administration, and the violation of honest candidates' fundamental right to equal opportunity under Article 14 of the Indian Constitution.

The case triggered massive student protests across the country, severely eroding public trust in national testing authorities. It accelerated parliamentary debates on stringent anti-cheating laws and led to mandatory biometric and CCTV upgrades at all NEET centers, fundamentally altering exam security protocols.
