Ashes on the Tide

In the fictional nation of Veridia, the Supreme Court's ruling in Ashby v. Veridia decriminalizes post-hoc gratuities, allowing a fishing conglomerate to shield its slave-staffed factory ships from prosecution. Ex-soldier Adrian Kane, haunted by his brother's disappearance, infiltrates one such vessel to find him alive. On land, crusading lawyer Lena Voss fights a corrupted system that protects the powerful. When mutiny erupts in the lawless void of the high seas, vengeance burns too late to rebuild what was destroyed, leaving only ashes on the indifferent tide.
