In the hyper-efficient authoritarian city-state of Songhwa, Detective Hana Seong uncovers a series of impossibly precise murders of public officials. Each victim is found perfectly preserved in industrial-grade packaging, their bodies arranged like components in a machine. The investigation leads her to the National Procurement Bureau, where a mother's twisted love has been silently orchestrating the elimination of anyone who might expose her child to the world's corruption. As the bodies mount with terrifying mechanical regularity, Hana must confront her own childhood trauma to understand a maternal instinct that has become indistinguishable from the cold logic of state-sanctioned violence.
