Frozen Breath

In the winter of 1998, a junior clerk of the Federal Supreme Court arrives in the border town of San Cristobal to gather evidence for the landmark water dispute Castella v. Sangre. A historic blizzard seals the valley, trapping him with ranchers, smugglers, and a sheriff's secret. As the first body appears, fear mutates into savagery, and the townsfolk begin to slaughter one another. The clerk must decipher a conspiracy that has nothing to do with law—and everything to do with the breathing world beyond the docket.
