Novel Summary
In the small coastal town of Greyhollow, newly elected councilwoman Lena Holbrook is arrested on falsified charges after demanding police accountability—an echo of a landmark retaliatory arrest case. While searching for evidence to clear her name, she discovers a diary that belonged to her great-grandmother, revealing that a prominent town patriarch, Victor Kael, is actually a war criminal who betrayed an entire Jewish family to the Nazis in 1943. The only survivor of that forgotten massacre, now a dying old woman, has returned to Greyhollow seeking one final reckoning. As Lena digs deeper, the past bleeds violently into the present, forcing her into a lethal game between an aging predator desperate to guard his secrets and a ghost seeking justice before time runs out.
