Novel Summary
In the decaying coastal city of Blackwood Bay, Kael is a ghost—a cleaner for the corrupt Aldridge-Forrester Consortium. His final contract targets a whistleblower threatening the company's billion-dollar Northbay Landing project. But when the target turns out to be a hardened orphan named Arlo, Kael sees a reflection of his own stolen childhood. Defying his handlers, Kael abducts the boy and goes on the run. Hunted by the very machine that built him, Kael discovers that the consortium's land-grab scheme, masked by legitimate-sounding "development impact fees," is a graveyard of silenced victims. Every road he takes is a toll road, and the price is always human life. In a world where justice is a commodity, two ghosts must tear up the blueprint to find out if a killer can ever truly pay for his passage to the other side.
