God's Lost Shadows

Detective Chief Inspector Eva Marlow returns to a case that haunted her career: the denied asylum plea of Arben Hoxha, who claimed he faced torture if deported. Five years later, as the city of Briarwood prepares for its famed Festival of the Unmasked, a series of ritualistic murders unfolds. Each victim is killed by multiple hands, wearing carnival masks. Marlow soon realizes the killings mirror the very torture methods Hoxha once described. Every criminal profile she builds seems to trace the outline of something divine yet forsaken—shadows of a god that has turned away. As the festival reaches its climax, Marlow must confront a collective madness where the line between justice and vengeance dissolves, and where an entire crowd can awaken as a demon.
