In the rain-slicked streets of Baybridge City, retired hacker Cole Ransome drinks alone with his ghosts. Each killing is a perfect cipher, paid for with Bitcoin on a deep web market called the Red Contract. As Ransome peels back layers of encrypted ledgers, he finds himself hunting a phantom vigilante born from a shattered courtroom. Five years ago, a man watched his wife’s killer walk free because of a visible shackle. Now, consumed by extreme isolation, that man has blurred fantasy and reality, appointing himself judge, jury, and executioner. Ransome must navigate a game of coded traps and sniper’s bullets to stop the next hit, only to discover that the line separating him from the killer is as thin as a wire.
