The God-Shadow Carnival

A disgraced forensic sketch artist, Takashima Sora, is exiled to the port city of Usari just as the notorious Kamen-Sai festival erupts. When prefectural power-brokers begin dying in full view of thousands of masked revellers, all eyewitnesses describe the same non-face—a blank silhouette where a killer should be. Sora realizes that each criminal profile he draws is a failed attempt to capture a shadow God left behind, as he uncovers a conspiracy to weaponize collective ecstasy into a perfect, leaderless murder machine.
