Traps of Dust

In the fictional nation of Kharad, retired archivist Vikram Seth lives in silence, haunted by the death of his son—a brilliant student crushed by a rigged national medical entrance exam. When a gang of young burglars invades his crumbling apartment, Vikram does not call the police. Instead, he transforms his home into a labyrinth of lethal, improvised traps. As the intruders are picked off one by one, the narrative peels back layers of state corruption, the illusion of meritocracy, and the dark truth that pity without institutional change is merely self-serving performance.
