NEET UG Exam Cheating Gang Case in Noida, Uttar Pradesh

In May 2025, the Noida Police and the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force dismantled a sophisticated cheating gang targeting the NEET UG medical entrance exam. The syndicate was caught facilitating malpractice for multiple candidates at a center in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Investigators recovered Bluetooth micro-earpieces, SIM cards, and other electronic devices used to transmit answers in real-time from a remote location. Several candidates who paid significant sums for guaranteed success were also detained. The National Testing Agency, which conducts NEET, had deployed enhanced security measures, but the gang exploited loopholes through impersonation and hidden gadgets. The case highlighted the deep-rooted network of fixers, coaching center operators, and low-level staff colluding to undermine the exam's integrity.

Multiple arrests were made, and the accused were booked under sections of the Indian Penal Code for criminal conspiracy, cheating, and under the Information Technology Act for use of electronic devices. The investigation was expanded to trace the masterminds and the financial trail. As of the initial crackdown, the matter was pending before a local court with chargesheets being prepared.

The central dispute revolves around whether the NEET UG examination process was compromised by a coordinated criminal racket utilizing sophisticated technology and proxy candidates, and whether the breach was isolated to Noida or indicative of a wider, pan-India leak orchestrated by an organized nexus of coaching mafias and insiders.

The incident triggered a nationwide outrage among medical aspirants and parents, severely denting public confidence in the fairness of high-stakes entrance examinations. It intensified demands for a stringent central law against paper leaks, a biometric overhaul of test center security, and a CBI investigation. The scandal also put political pressure on the National Testing Agency to cancel or re-conduct the exam, echoing broader concerns about corruption and inequity in India's competitive exam system.
