Potentially Responsible Party

Potentially Responsible Party (PRP) is a CERCLA designation for entities liable for cleanup costs at a Superfund site, and the Supreme Court in Atlantic Richfield ruled that landowner plaintiffs qualified as PRPs, thereby requiring EPA approval for their restoration plans.
